Course Overview

Intended for counselors, therapists, and clinicians of any license type.

No matter what counseling or therapy license you possess, sign up for this one day, 6-hour conference/ workshop in order to increase your knowledge and confidence working with sexually compulsive clients. In today's world, it's a misnomer to believe you can be a counselor/ therapist without knowing something about sex and/ or pornography addiction. Whether you work with addicts, their partners, or just need to know more about how to help addicted clients at any level, you will benefit from this conference. With the rise in sex and pornography addiction and more clients experiencing the relationship impacts, it has become more important to have knowledge about the treatment of this specialty within the specialty.

During this 1-day conference, Sex and Pornography Addiction and the diagnostic criteria will be discussed and defined. Within this addiction, as with any, the role of trauma, shame, and attachment will be explored. With the increasing numbers of clients presenting with these struggles, participants will be informed of current training programs and be encouraged to look at increasing their skill set with these clients.

Being trained through the Institute for Trauma and Addictions Professionals (IITAP), Tim will share his current thoughts about this complex topic. Tim will share his own method of providing counseling and care for these individuals. Tim will also talk about some of the recommended dos and don'ts for working with sexually compulsive clients. Presentation attendees will leave feeling more confident in their own skill sets, having referral options, and understanding the role of trauma and shame in the addiction narrative.
